  • Safety Warning: Contains small parts. Not suitable for retrieval training. Choking hazard. Do not allow dog to pick up hide. Owners use at their own risk.
  • Kits do not include training instructions. Course options are below.

  • If Intermediate and Advanced are purchased together, Beginner coursework and kit are included free.

Truffle Dog Training Courses

Our comprehensive training courses are available during the off-season only. Each program starts with 2 hours of initial consultation (in-person or remote) followed by 4 weeks of intensive support. This includes weekly task reviews, timestamped video feedback of your dog’s behavior, and ongoing course customization based on your team's specific progress.*Travel costs apply for in-person sessions in Victoria.

  • Beginner

    Introducing the Truffle Hunting Game

    $700 (+ travel if in person) | Off-season only

    • Understanding canine olfaction and body language (theory)
    • Understanding canine Psychology (theory)
    • Demonstration of pairing hides and handling odour
    • Learning the word “Find”
    • Pairing scent with reward (indoor/outdoor)
    • Introducing handler given reward.
    • Troubleshooting when your dog is on odour
    • 2-hour initial consultation + 4 weeks of video review & support

  • Intermediate

    Increasing the Difficulty for the Dog

    $1000 (+ travel if in person) | Off-season only

    • Obedience and leadership foundations (theory)
    • Current-level search review with tips and feedback
    • Unpaired hide/handling odour demonstration and practical.
    • Teaching ‘show’, increasing focus and marking accuracy
    • Demonstrating “Drop” command after scent alert.
    • Growing leadership relationship with your dog / Leadership Tasks
    • 2-hour initial consultation + 4 weeks of video review & support

  • Advanced

    Increasing Difficulty for the Human/Canine Team

    $1300 (+ travel if in person) | Off-season only

    • Understanding truffle growth, rip line, digging and preserving (theory)
    • How truffle odour behaves in real conditions and truffle specific trouble shooting (theory)
    • Blind hide/variable weather challenge and handling review
    • Multiple hides/ Small deep truffle challenges and handling review.
    • Maintaining confidence, focus and marking accuracy
    • 2-hour initial consultation + 4 weeks of video review & support

    Not ready for a full intensive program, but want expert guidance and hands-on support? This session provides an in-depth evaluation and personalized training direction.

    • Assessment of your dog's current searching techniques and skills
    • Identification of training gaps and areas for improvement
    • Evaluation of your dog's suitability (drive, motivation, reward system)
